It's something I preach; mental toughness. Yet, it is one of the toughest concepts for high school players to grasp. It's human nature to show your emotions on the court after a point in which you win or lose. BUT, the great players show no emotions or lose focus from start to finish. Many times during a match I see many of you getting frustrated and down on yourselves. When you do this, you usually know the first thing I am going to say to you at the fence, "refocus!" What I would like many of you to start practicing is shown in the video above. In between points, following a few steps to maintain focus and keep you emotions in check can help you take your  game to the next level. We will be working on it in practice and certainly on the courts during a match.

Hi all,

I have been working very hard on setting up this website for the team. While there is still a bit left to do, I hope that you check it out and that you check it out often! I know the season is almost half over, but I do intend to update the blog and other stuff during the JTL season and off season.

Some things to think about:
1. Getting mom or dad to take some pictures at matches! The more we could add to the site the better.

2. I need to get a picture of each of you at practice. Also, we will need alittle bio. (ie- age, how long have you played tennis, favorite player, etc.) for the Player Information section.

3. The trial period for the summer camp is beginning. I am going to see how many will sign up over he next 2 months. If we have enough, we will move forward with a camp as a fundraiser. I will need many of you to help.

4. JTL- I really, really, really (and did I say really) recommend all of you that can play in the league over the summer. As I have said, we have to stop this play in the spring and don't pick up a racquet until the next spring mess. You are hurting yourself and the team by doing so. So, whether you play JTL or not, expect a summer workout program that you can complete at home.

Until next blog.
